"My wife's car broke down on the freeway & I had it towed to Serra Honda for repairs. There was a young man who just happened to be outside & I asked him where we could leave the car. I asked him about a loaner car so that my wife could get to work the following day.He assured me that he could do that & he did. The following day when we came back, he took me to the service dept to show us the damage that was done to our personal car. I observed the damage & he began to talk to me about purchasing a car. He had mentioned it the evening before but my wife was tire and resistant. I didn't want to put anymore money into my wife's car so we made a decision from his observation and salesmanship to purchase a new car.

We are very pleased with our decision !! In fact, we would have responded to your communication sooner but we have been to Florida in our new Honda.

We really plan to purchase another vehicle within a year or so and know that it will be a Honda from Serra Honda.

Heatstroke is a large concern for the safety of children. Here are some summer safety tips from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration:

• Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle — even if the windows are partially open or the engine is running and the air conditioning is on
• Make a habit of looking in the vehicle — front and back — before locking the door and walking away
• Ask the childcare provider to call if the child does not show up for care as expected
• Do things that serve as a reminder a child is in the vehicle, such as placing a purse or briefcase in the back seat to ensure no child is accidentally left in the vehicle, writing a note or using a stuffed animal placed in the driver's view to indicate a child is in the car seat
• Teach children a vehicle is not a play area and store keys out of a child's reach

Collegiate Women Sports Awards Announces The Top Three Finalists For The 2012 Honda Cup

The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) confirmed today Brittney Griner of Baylor University, Teresa Noyola of Stanford University, and Keilani Ricketts of the University of Oklahoma have been named the Top Three finalists for the 36th Annual Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious Honda Cup, to be announced live on ESPNU on Saturday, June 23 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

"The Collegiate Women Sports Awards is pleased to announce Brittney, Teresa and Keilani as the Top Three finalists for the Honda Cup.  They have proven they are the best of the best, and are wonderful examples of excellence in women's collegiate athletics.  We are looking forward to honoring them as part of the live broadcast on ESPNU of the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Honda Cup," said Jean Lenti Ponsetto, CWSA Chairwoman of the Board and Athletics Director at DePaul University.

            Griner, a 6-foot-8 center who is only the second woman to dunk in NCAA tournament play, led the Baylor women's basketball team to a historic 40-0 season and the 2012 NCAA Div. I Women's Basketball Championship. Griner, who received the John R. Wooden Award and was named the 2012 AP Player of the Year, averaged 23.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and a national high 5.2 blocks per game this season, setting a Big 12 women's scoring record. At the end of three seasons, the junior also became the first women's collegiate player to score more than 2,000 points and block more than 500 shots and needs just 65 blocks to become the all-time block shot leader. In Baylor's 80-61 NCAA title victory over the Lady Irish of Notre Dame, Griner had 26 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks.  Griner is a general studies major with an emphasis on outdoor recreation and will return to Baylor for her senior season.

            Noyola, a senior midfielder, scored the game-winning goal in Stanford's 1-0 victory over Duke University for the 2012 NCAA Div. I Women's Soccer Championship. Noyola was also named a first-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, becoming only the second Stanford player to receive three consecutive first-team honors. Stanford finished the season undefeated, and Noyola's squad amassed a four-year record of 95-4-4.  Noyola had 15 assists for the year and 60 in her college career, the second highest in Stanford history. She was also selected as the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  Noyola is majoring in math and computational science at Stanford.

"I'm honored to be part of this prestigious tradition and to represent Stanford," said Noyola. "Over the last four years Stanford has challenged me to strive for excellence on the field and in the classroom, and these values characterize the Honda tradition. This honor caps off a very special year for me and I would like to share this with my Stanford teammates."

            Ricketts, who pitched her Oklahoma squad to its first appearance in the Women's College World Series in seven years, was honored as the College Softball Player of the Year and has been named to the USA Softball national team for 2012.  The junior southpaw struck out 12 batters to lead the Sooners to a 4-1 victory over the University of Alabama in the opening game of the Women's College World Series. Going into the series, Ricketts was second in the nation in pitching with an ERA of .99, second in hits allowed per seven innings with 3.76, second in total strikeouts with 433, and second in strikeouts per seven innings at 11.  A native of San Jose, Calif., Ricketts is majoring in health and exercise science at the University of Oklahoma.

             "It is truly an honor to have Keilani recognized as the top student-athlete in collegiate softball," head coach Patty Gasso said. "She is a humble and hard-working person whose dedication to the sport has truly made being her teammate, coach or fan a blessing. Certainly this is not just a reward for Keilani, but for all who have had the opportunity to be associated with her throughout her career."
             
            Griner, Noyola and Ricketts emerged as the CWSA's "Best of the Best" on the Road to the 2012 Honda Cup that included Honda Sports Award winners in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports.  They will be joined at the live broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards in Los Angeles, Calif. by Honda Division II Athlete of the Year, Kari Daughtery of Ashland University, Honda Division III Athlete of the Year, Stacey Hagensen of Pacific Lutheran University, and the 2012 Honda Inspiration Award Winner, Elena Delle Donne of the University of Delaware.   Schools, conferences and fans around the country are organizing viewing parties on Saturday to support the women, share in the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Title IX, and the watch the live announcement of this year's Honda Cup winner on ESPNU.

He kept walking me through the process until I finally figured out I was holding the button down too long. He really needs an award for being so patient! I am enjoying my new Civic including all the "techy" features thanks to James. 2013 Honda Fit EV Rated by the EPA at 118 MPGe; Receives Best-Ever Consumption Rating of 29 kWh/100mi

The 2013 Honda Fit EV, has received a combined adjusted Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mile-per-gallon-equivalency rating of 118 MPGe, and an unprecedented low consumption rating of just 29 kilowatt hours (kWh) per 100 miles. With an EPA rated annual fuel cost of only $500 , the fun-to-drive 2013 Honda Fit EV can help consumers get more miles for each charging dollar. Full EPA MPGe ratings¹ for the Fit EV are 132/105/118 city/highway/combined.

With such an efficient drivetrain, the Fit EV 's 20-kWh lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery provides the capacity to earn an EPA combined city/highway estimated driving range rating of 82-miles, allowing the Fit EV to surpass the EPA efficiency and range ratings of the Ford Focus Electric (105 MPGe, 76-mile range), Nissan Leaf (99 MPGe, 73-mile range), and Mitsubishi i-MiEV (112 MPGe, 62-mile range). The Fit EV 's exceptionally efficient design – encompassing everything from savvy powertrain design, weight-conscious engineering and effective aerodynamics – makes the most of the Fit EV 's smaller battery. Additionally, the Fit EV battery can be recharged in less than 3 hours from a low charge indicator illumination point when connected to a 240-volt circuit.

"Just as important as the industry-leading fuel-efficiency and fast recharging time, as a Honda, the 2013 Fit EV will be an absolute kick to drive," said Steve Center, vice president of the American Honda Environmental Business Development Office.

The Fit EV 's 92 kilowatt (123 horsepower) coaxial electric motor generates 188 ft-lb of torque, and is teamed to a chassis with a fully-independent suspension and a driver-selectable 3-mode electric drive system adapted from the CR-Z Sport Hybrid.

Honda debuted the 2013 Fit EV at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and announced plans to begin leasing the battery-electric commuter vehicle to customers in select California and Oregon markets during the summer of 2012, followed by an East Coast rollout in 2013. The Fit EV will be offered with three-year $389/month lease².

Honda Environmental Leadership
The Fit EV is a part of Honda 's portfolio approach, which includes the development of battery- electric, fuel cell-electric, natural gas, and gasoline-electric powered vehicles, to improve fuel-efficiency and reduce C02 emissions. Honda has led the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) rankings of overall vehicle environmental performance since 2000, and a Honda vehicle has topped the list of America's greenest vehicles, from the America Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), for eleven consecutive years.
